How do we get it to taste so good?

Unlike most coffee shops, which sell you regular coffee that was chilled in the fridge, we cold brew our iced coffee. In a top-secret chamber hidden deep below Clark Park, accessible only through a small passageway that is fingerprint-access-controlled, a select corps of Green Line baristas use a specially-designed cold-brew toddy method which takes 24 hours to complete. This process transforms the many pounds of organic fair-trade coffee into a super-strong concentrate. Not only is the cold-brew process more fuel efficient, it also produces a terrific smooth flavor that you can’t get by icing down hot-brewed coffee. Now get down here! It’s hot outside!

So today is the University City’s Baltimore Avenue Dollar Stroll is ON today, from 5:30 pm – 8:30.

We will be participating by offering up the following treasures for just a buck: grilled tofu sandwich sliders, 10 oz. iced coffee, small hot brewed coffee and teas, and turkey & cheddar sandwich sliders!

“One Book, One Philadelphia” Persepolis Book Discussion Group Starting

Starting Feb. 3rd, there will be a guided discussion of the Philadelphia Free Library’s annual selection of Persepolis for the One Book, One Philadelphia initiative. The group will meet weekly on every Wednesday of February.

Originally published in France in two volumes, The Complete Persepolis is Satrapi’s poignant, humorous, and heartbreaking memoir of growing up in Iran during a time of political revolution and repression. An outspoken and imaginative child, Satrapi grappled with understanding the ruling power in her country as she witnessed the overthrow of the Shah’s regime, the Islamic Revolution’s triumph, and the chilling impact of war with Iraq. Detailed in black-and-white graphic images and accompanied by brief text, Satrapi’s story continues through her years as a young adult, as she finds her way as an expatriate student in Austria. Her first-person point of view presents readers with a unique glimpse into Iran’s political repression, the inner-workings of a family, and one woman’s experience as an outsider both at home and abroad.
