TIGER SAW

The ever-changing collective Tiger Saw was founded in Newburyport, Massachusetts in 1999 by Dylan Metrano. Over four albums, they’ve explored a beautiful, hushed, slowcore sound; indie pop sing-alongs; and “basement soul”, a DIY take on soul / rhythm & blues. Numerous collaborators have performed with the band- their last album features Dirty Projectors’ Angel Deradoorian and Nat Baldwin, White Hinterland’s Casey Dienel, and Deer Tick’s John McCauley, among many others.
Tiger Saw has performed its original scores alongside the silent films Nosferatu and The Adventures of Prince Achmed, and has collaborated with Exit Dance Theater. A new collaboration with This Little Bird Dance Company is planned for 2010. Last year, Dylan Metrano’s book All My Friends Are Right Here With Me: A Decade in the Indie Rock Underground, an oral history of Tiger Saw and its community of friends was published by Burst & Bloom Press.
Tiger Saw has toured extensively on three continents and is known for playing unorthodox venues from beach bonfires to treetop sing-alongs, as well as basements and barrooms from coast to coast. Tiger Saw has performed over 800 shows with many bands, including Grizzly Bear, Explosions in the Sky, Kimya Dawson, Jens Lekman, Magnolia Electric Co., The Gossip, and Man Man.

LAZARUS

San Francisco’s Lazarus began in 2001 as Trevor Montgomery’s post-Tarentel solo project, a pilgrimage of either insanity or freedom – or both. ‘Songs For an Unborn Sun’ was his first release, a minimal and soulful collaboration with longtime friend Marty Anderson (Okay, Dilute). His second release, ‘Like Trees We Grow up to be Satellites (The Backwards America)’, punched through the whispering darkness into an orchestral declaration of strength, political upheaval, and hope. Recorded by Scott Solter (Okkervil River, The Mountain Goats), it was a playful and rich approach at expressing both failures and fortunes of life. Lazarus has now grown into a small ensemble, featuring Sacramento natives Kathryn Sechrist and Kelly Nyland, exloring overwhelmingly beautiful depths with dense layers of drums, keyboards, acoustic and electric guitars, glockenspiel, and Trevor’s shamanistic, gospel-inspired vocals. Lazarus has become a brilliant, soulful, psychedelic experience of experimental and political grace. At last, this pilgrimage has found a solid road to freedom.
Montgomery has also played in the bands Tarentel, The Drift, Papercuts, Castanets, and has toured with Explosions in the Sky.

UNBUNNY

Unbunny is the name under which Jarid del Deo has recorded music since he was a student at the University of New Hampshire. Though del Deo is the primary (and usually sole) songwriter, Unbunny has always operated under the band model, featuring a rotating cast of backing players and collaborators, touring, albeit rarely, with whatever personnel are available.
Chris Walla of Death Cab for Cutie recorded two songs on the Unbunny album “Black Strawberries” and also plays piano on one song (“Glacier”).

“What distinguishes Jarid Del Deo’s work from other confessional songwriters is a pitch-perfect level of self deprecation, an all important injection of humor which, when coupled with his lyrical and melodic brilliance, rewards the listener on multiple levels.” – Comes With A Smile

“Bittersweet bedroom pop-Americana.” – Mojo
