Karen Gotlieb, a painter based out of Wynnewood, has been drawing the figure her entire life. It was only in 2007 that she decided to explore painting, choosing gouache as her medium. Gotlieb’s large format paintings explore the relationships between large, simple shapes and their intricate details which make them unique. Her works frequently depict a departure from reality, where the central figures caught in the most mundane everyday situation find themselves dreaming of where they’d prefer to be.
